2008 WUC Handball: Day 5

Women's Competition
By virtue of the victory of this morning in Oderzo against Japan (35-32) Lithuania ended in first place of consolation pool and, on 12th July, will play against Poland in the game for the 9th place. Italy lost this morning from China 32-26: consequently the Italian female team will play tomorrow against Belarus to avoid at least the 14th and the last place in the World Championship. China and Japan, instead, will liven up the Asian derby for the 12th position.
Men's Competition
In the meanwhile in Jesolo two matches were played for the 9th to 12th position of the men's tournament: Hungary beat easily Latvia with 34-21, while Japan beat Cyprus 30-29. Tomorrow the two placing finals for the 9th–10th position and for 11th–12th will oppose, respectively, Hungary-Japan and Latvia-Cyprus.
