Cold fireworks at the Opening Ceremony
This morning, October 8th, the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 WUC Sport Shooting in Beijing, China took place on the historical campus of the Tsinghua University. Mr Gu Binglin, President of the Tsinghua University and President of the OC welcomed the participants and wished them good luck in the competitions. He also reminded them of the long traditions in sport shooting the University has.
FISU Assessor Dr. Kim Chong Yang then took the floor in name of FISU President George Killian to thank the Organisers and he stressed FISU’s vocation to give the student-athletes from all around the globe a forum to meet and compete and exchange their experiences. He then invited Mr. Feng Jianzhong, Vice-Minister of the General Administration of Sports to officially open the Championship.
Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the delegations went to the Olympic venue for a practice day.
