The Confirmation of Turkey, the Redemption of Russia
This morning at Palaturismo of Jesolo, venue of the preliminary heats of the Men's World University Handball Championship, Turkey conquered its access to the quarter-finals, winning (27-24) against Latvia at the end of a very stretched match. Instead Russia deleted its defeat early in the tournament (23-24 against Turkey) outclassing Mexico with a 42-21 score, which after this rout is eliminated from the competition. The same destiny for Italy in the women's tournament: the clear score (19-37) in Oderzo against Azerbaijan cut all the Italian hopes off, which already at the beginning lost against China; this means that in the last match (8th July in Oderzo at 11 a.m.) against Russia Italy would be out of the competition, even in case of success. Still in the women's championship, Russia won (31-24) against China, thanks to a fast and extraordinary game.
