2008 WUC Women's Futsal: Update

September 6th, 2008

Today, the first teams participating in the inaugural World University Women’s Futsal Championship as well as the CISCA members arrived in Vittoria, Bazil. Mr. Luciano Cabral, FISU Vice-President and CBDU President, Roberto Maldonade, OC President and CBDU member, Ricardo Moura, CBDU Director of International Affairs and Public Relations of the OC as well as Andre Mattos, Technical Director for the WUC welcomed the FISU delegates : Pedro Dias, FISU Assessor, John Warnock, Technical Chair for Futsal and Laurent Briel, Director of WUC. Before holding the CISCA meeting, the OC organised a visit of the OC offices and the sports venues for the FISU delegates to see. The main venue is a new building dressed for the occasion with the championship’s colours. It is important to note that there is a perfect collaboration between the CBDU, the OC and the Brazilian Football Federation. The final of the WUC will be broadcasted live on the national Brazilian TV stations and the fans will be able to follow the complete competition on the website of the OC. Nine teams from three continents are registered to participate, which is a success for a first edition. It was the CBDU who took on the challenge 16 years ago to host the first WUC Men’s Futsal. We wish them the same success for the Women’s edition.
