Newly Elected Russian President Medvedev Supports Kazan Bid for 2013 SU

Dmitry Medvedev, former first vice-prime minister and recently elected as President of the Russian Federation, has visited Kazan on February 21st during his election campaign. As a candidate for the presidency, he visited Kazan to participate in a congress "Sport in Russia". During his visit he had the opportunity to inspect the sport venues and schools of Kazan. In an interview Dmitry Medvedev said he was impressed by the level of equipment and quality of sport venues. He also added that Kazan is a good example for the whole of Russia in development of youth sport. During the congress Dmitry Medvedev together with his colleagues from the Government of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan discussed the development of sport in Russia and fully approved the Kazan candidature to host the 2013 Summer Universiade.
