The Athletes' Village

In a last meeting with the Bangkok Organising Committee, the FISU delegates in Bangkok met with the representatives of MCOT, which is the national broadcaster of Thailand. Together with the MCOT representatives, the FISU TV technicians discussed the equipment for the International Broadcasting Centre, which will be located within the Athletes’ Village on the campus of the Thammasat University. Besides the live broadcasts, a huge number of highlights will be produced during the Games. The Main Press Center will be in the Village as well, in front of the IBC. In fact, it will be the first time in FISU history that almost all venues will be in one site: IBC, MPC, hospital and most of the venues (6 sport halls, the track and field stadium and 1 swimming pool), as well as the offices of the OC and FISU. As of March, the apartments on campus for the athletes are being refurbished and during the Heads of Delegation visit next April (5th to 7th) the delegates of the FISU Member Associations will be able to visit these apartments.

Participation

So far, the OC received the interest of participation from 117 countries representing more than 7,500 participants. The number for the pools for all team sports exceeds its maximum so a selection will be made according to the FISU Regulations.

Gaudeamus Igitur

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra recorded an original version of the FISU anthem Gaudeamus Igitur and the Thai poet Navarat Pongpaiboon made a the Thai translation.
