2008 WUC Archery: Update

July 4th, 2008

On-line Live Broadcasting for World University Archery Championship

With the support from the National Taiwan Sports University and Chang-Jung Christian University, Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation launched an on line broadcasting for the 7th World University Archery Championship. This is the first time that Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation will employ this new technology to broadcast its international sport competition via Internet.

CTUSF stated that a number breaking of event participants showed the importance attached to this growing archery championship. Thus, it is essential to upgrade its media service. This idea was embodied through involvement of the Recreation and Leisure Management Department at National Taiwan Sports University. The department head, Mr. Moh, who has a solid background in mass communication, has devoted a tremendous effort to train his students in sports event TV production. Last year they produced several sport events, including Asian Grand Prix Stage 2 as well as International Deaf Swimming Championships. This time his team consists of one faculty, one engineer and 10 students. Another key partner, the Dept. of Engineering and Management and Computing Center at the Chang-Jung Christian University, mainly provides the Internet-related service to carry the signal.

To enrich the program content, OC invited Dr. Chiu, Secretary General of the Chinese Taipei Archery Association and George Tekmitchov to be program anchor and commentator. George has served as an announcer for several Olympic Games, including 2008 Beijing Olympics. Dr. Chiu was a former Olympian as well. The Organizing Committee of the Archery Championship tried to cover not only the competition program but also the Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony and Award Ceremony. All events can be viewed at the official website (2008wuac.ctusf.org.tw) of the archery championship. In addition, viewers can watch the past events on the website. The OC will release the schedule later. As for field preparation, more work has been carried out by CJCU folks. Championship banner and signage can be found around the campus as well as this region.
