2008 FISU Forum: Update

July 3rd, 2008

FISU Assessor Marian Dymalski and some volunteers

On July 2nd, in Krakow Poland, the 2nd day of the FISU Forum started with the presentation of Topic B: „Volunteering Philosophy as a force in University Sport”. This presentation was made by Karolina Rohan, volunteer at the local branch of the NUSF of Poland in Wroclaw and member of the EUSA student commission and Renata Bojcuk CESU member. This presentation was followed by the group discusions. The conclusion of thier presentation which was also a way to start the disucssion was:

„As the volunteers might be such an active part of the OCs work and sometimes even a key to our success, we should think how to promote their role, recruit them and train. Mostly, in those countries and federations in which it’s not yet common to have such a support. Hence, some questions appear – how and where to recruit them? How to motivate and get their interest? The volunteers’ role should be promoted also among organisers – how to do that? Maybe a guideline with detailed description of tasks, recruitment processes, important skills and competences could help? And then, should volunteers be rewarded somehow for a job well done?“

The Kazan delegation

The members of the CESU are reforming the groups every day so the participants have as much exhange as possible and be able to meet everybody during the six days of the Forum.
