FISU Delegates at FIS Autumn Meeting

Roger ROTH, FISU CTI Chair and Milan AUGUSTIN, FISU Director for the Winter Universiade travelled to Zürich, Switzerland on September 30th to take part in the Autumn Meetings of FIS, the International Ski Federation. In these meetings, all FIS Sport Committees have their working sessions to discuss International Competition Rules (ICR), Timing, Development of Youth & Children and also the provisional Competition Calendar for the next 4-5 years. These FIS meetings give FISU a great opportunity to meet all important FIS experts and besides promoting FISU activities also providing an update of the upcoming 2009 Harbin Winter Universiade with all necessary information needed.

Yesterday, October 1st during the morning session, the Ski Jumping Committee chaired by Walter Hofer, FIS Director of Ski Jumping, met where also FISU CT Chair for Ski Jumping Mr. Paul Ganzenhuber was present. All technical topics reached satisfaction of all members and Mr. Roth and Mr. Augustin informed all participants about the Harbin WU and what need to be done to have a successful Ski Jumping competition during the Harbin WU. After the Ski Jumping Meeting the FISU delegates had small working meeting with Paul Ganzenhuber, Joe Lamb, FIS delegate for Nordic Combined and Ueli Forrer, FIS TD for Ski Jumping for Harbin. They discussed all necessary upcoming steps for the competition in Harbin and for a test event which was implemented in the Competition Calendar as FIS Cup and which will be held on January 14th, 2009.

The afternoon belonged to the Nordic Combined Committee and a couple of changes were proposed to be implemented to the ICR of FIS. New Competition formats were approved by the FIS Nordic Combined Committee and these will have a direct influence for the Nordic Combined Competition at the upcoming Harbin WU. The FIS Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Committees highly appreciated the presence of the FISU delegates. Today Alpine Skiing and Freestyle Skiing sessions are scheduled.
