The University Sport Federation of Montenegro was accepted as a new member association of FISU at the General Assembly prior to the Universiade. At their first participation in the Summer Universiade they take home the gold medal of the waterpolo tournament after a thrilling match against Italy. Hungary settles for the bronze after a close game against Spain.
