Report Ski Commission Meeting 2003

First Time in Budapest, Hungary
From April 24th to 27th, 2003 the 25th annual FISU Ski Commission Meeting took place in Budapest, Hungary. The Meeting was organized by HUSF, the Hungarian University Sports Federation. It was the first time this meeting took place in Hungary. In Alpine as well as in Cross Country Skiing, Hungary is very active, participating since many years on the international university ski sport scene. FISU Vice-President and CTI Winter Chairman Mr. Fritz Holzer opened the meeting and welcomed the participants, the members of the organizing committee Dr. Robert Frenkl (HUSF President and FISU EC member), Dr. Laszlo Pap , Vice-Rector of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Dr. Pal Vince (Vice-President HUSF) and Dr. Csaba Hedi (General -Secretary HUSF). Thereafter the meeting work was done in two groups: Alpine Skiing, chaired by Hans Falsehr and cross-country skiing, chaired by Roger Roth. Both groups finalized the calendar for the university races 2003/2004, they exchanged experiences of the season 2002/2003, especially those concerning the 2003 Winter Universiade in Tarvisio. Regulations were discussed and necessary improvements done. It was pointed out that the technical running of the ski events in Tarvisio was perfect. Mr. Florian Neururer of the WUOC Innsbruck made a report and a presentation on the next Winter Universiade in Innsbruck 2005. Participants of 10 countries took part in this 25th FISU Ski Commission Meeting. The next meeting will be organized by Austria from April 22nd to 25th, 2004 in Innsbruck. Before the openning of the FISU Ski Commission Meeting 2003, the General-Secretary of the Hungarian Olympic Commitee, Dr. Tamas Ajan welcomed Mr. Fritz Holzer and expressed his pleasure and satisfaction that the FISU Ski Commission Meeting was taking place in Budapest. He underlined the good cooperation between the Hungarian Olympic Commitee, the Hungarian University Sports Federation and the International University Sports Federation, FISU.
Cultural Program
As part of the Cultural Program, the participants had the opportunity to visit the world famous Puszta with its horses and a tasting of gulash in Kerekegyhaza. Back in the beautiful city of Budapest, sightseeing and a very interesting folklore-evening were also part of the program.
