2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Bidding Committee Held its Inaugural General Assembly
The inaugural General Assembly of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Bidding Committee took place in Gwangju City on 26 December 2008, and was attended by central government officials, political and economic figures, and representatives from the national sports organizations and Gwangju City. In his speech, Vice Minister of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Jae-Min Shin put an emphasis on the fact that the government would give an all-round support to bring the Universiade 2015 to Gwangju as well as to promote the city around the world.
The General Assembly appointed a National Assemblyman, Mr. Eui-Hwa Chung as the President of the Bidding Committee, the President of the Chonnam National University, Mr. Yoon-Soo Kim and the President of the Chosun University, Mr. Hoh-Jong Cheon as co-Vice Presidents of the Bidding Committee. The appointed president of the Bidding Committee, Mr. Chung in his acceptance speech asserted that he would fully and firmly make an effort to build a collaborative system between the National Assembly and the central government to win the bid for the Universiade 2015. Upon the news of the inaugural General Assembly of the Bidding Committee, again the citizens of Gwangju united for a successful bid, as they did when Gwangju was a candidate for the 2013 Games.
