Mongolians Start to Prepare for the 4th WUC Boxing in 2010

The city of Ulaanbaatar the Capital of Mongolia is to host 4th World University Boxing Championship from October 4th to 10th, 2010. The right to host this championship was decided and awarded at the EC Meeting of FISU held in Turin, Italy in January 2007. As a test for the championship, Ulaanbaatar successfully hosted the 24th Asian Senior Boxing Championship from June 4th to 11th, 2007 in which 144 athletes from 20 Asian countries competed in 11 weight categories. At the 24th Asian boxing Championship, attended a large number of distinguished guests such as Mr. Ching Kuo Wu (TPE) President of the International Amateur Boxing Federation (AIBA) and Member of the International Olympic Committee; Mr. Gafur Rakhimov (UZB), First Vice-President of AIBA and President of the Asian Amateur Boxing Federation; Mr. Chang Jiangping (CHN), Vice-President of AIBA and President of the Board of Asia AIBA; Mr. Mohgbed Shabib (SYR), Member of Executive Committee of AIBA and President of the Referee Commission of the Asian Amateur Boxing Federation, and Lt.Gen, Taweep Jantararoi (THA), Member of the Executive Committee of AIBA.
Mr. Bayasgalan, FISU Assessor, President of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation and the First Vice-President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee and Dr. Jargalsaikhan, Assessor of the Asian University Sports Federation and Secretary-General of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation held an official meeting with the above-mentioned persons and other distinguished guests. During the meeting, they briefed on the World University Boxing Championship to be held in 2010 in Ulaanbaatar, exchanged opinions and handed them the invitation for and brochures of the championship. At this 24th Asian Boxing Championship, Mongolian athletes received 3 gold, 2 silver medals and took second place by team result following the Uzbekistan team which received 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals and the Kazakhstan team which won three gold and two bronze medals ending in third place.
21 years old Mongolian student boxer E. Badar-Uugan (54 kg), gold medalist at the 2006 World University Boxing Championship in Almati, Kazakhstan, won the final of this championship from the Uzbek boxer Sh. Orzubek, thus winning the title of Asian Champion. Up until now, Mongolian boxers have gotten 2 bronze medals from Olympic Games, 2 silver and one bronze medals from World Boxing Championships, and 11 gold medals from the Asian Boxing Championships. In the organization of this 24th Asian Boxing Championship, many members of the Organizing Committee of 2010 WUBC and staff of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation have played a crucial role in helping the Mongolian Boxing Federation to stage the event.
Moreover, all participants of this 24th Asian Boxing Championship received invitations and brochures for the 4th World University Boxing Championship in 2010 and banners, posters and other promotional materials were placed at the competition venue. Delegations from 20 participating countries in the Asian Championship, have expressed their wishes to come back to Mongolia in 2010 to the WUBC.

In addition, the Government of Mongolia issued a resolution to prepare the organization of the 4th World University Boxing Championship in 2010 and appointed Mrs. D.Tuya, Member of Parliament and Minister for Health as the President of the Organizing Committee during its meeting of June 20th, 2007.
