Home Team Players for the WUC Floorball Nominated

Both Finnish teams are aiming for the gold in the 3rd World University Floorball Championships, which will be arranged in Kuortane and Seinäjoki between November 5th and 9th. The Finnish men’s team won the first World University Championship’s title in Gothenburg 2002, but two years ago in Bern they had to content themselves with the silver medal after losing the final game against Sweden. The ladies’ tournament is organized now for the first time, with the presence of teams from Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and Finland. The Local team called Seinäjoen Peliveljet (SPV) has started the Finnish floorball league-season in an excellent way having six wins in seven matches. Six players from SPV were selected to the Finnish men’s team, which should definitely raise the interest among local floorball fans. One of the SPV players is Mikko Helanen, the second best scorer of the latest WUC Floorball tournament. Some of the players have already gained experience from the national team level. The women’s team can trust on the skills of Eija Pasanen and Anne Suomalainen who together have gathered 59 points (goals + assists) in 76 national team games. Also the coaches of the Finnish teams are of the highest quality as the national team coaches are piloting the teams through the tournament. The rosters of Finnish teams as well as other participating teams can be found on the championships website: http://www.wucfloorball2008.com.
