Heads of Delegations' Visit - Day 2: Snow Venues

For their second day of inspections, the Heads of Delegation were invited for a short trip to Yabuli and Maoershan, the sites for the snow sports during the 24th Winter Universiade 2009. The HoDs visited first the railway station in Yabuli which will be the main meeting point for the athletes travelling from Harbin. The IBC was the next stop. Located in the highest point of Yabuli resort, this new building will offer superb facilities for the media people. The MPC was also inspected by the HoDs who were impressed by the warm welcome of our Chinese hosts. HoDs then moved to the Yabuli Athletes' Village (International Convention Centre) for an inspection and to have lunch. Located in Yabuli Ski Resort, the Athletes’ Village is composed of 6 hotels, where the athletes and coaches participating in the competitions of Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Ski Jumping, Freestyle Skiing and Nordic Combined will be accommodated. With two types of rooms, double-bed rooms and triple-bed rooms, the 6 hotels can altogether host more than 1,100 persons, among which 571 in Yabuli International Convention Centre, 151 in Power Village, 145 in Yabuli Village, 52 in Haohanpo Hotel and 66 in National Forest Park VIP Guesthouse. After lunch the delegates visited the Alpine Skiing venues, the Cross-country Skiing venues and finally the new jumping hills. Then it was time to move to Maoershan to finish this very busy day.

Close to the competition venues, Maoershan Athletes’ Village will mainly receive about 412 athletes and coaches involved in the competitions of Snowboarding and Biathlon. All rooms in the village are triple-bed rooms. Laundry room and other auxiliary facilities are available in this village. HoDs had the opportunity to inspect all the accommodation infrastructures but also the Biathlon and the Snowboarding venues. Tomorrow, the HoDs will have their final meeting with the OC.
