2009 Summer Universiade: Update

Directors of the 20 most prominent sports halls in Belgrade signed the contracts with UB2009 thus officially defining competition and training venues for Universiade Belgrade 2009. This complex system of venues, required for hosting such a large sporting event, will serve as a long lasting legacy of UB2009 to Belgrade and Serbia. 'Contracts regarding the use of the sports venues enables us to start the necessary preparations and reconstructions. This is an important step for the UB2009 organisation and we are pleased to have most representative venues on disposal which will accomodate the practices and competitions for over 11,000 athletes’, said Sinisa Jasnic, General Director of UB2009. The ceremony was the first occasion to gather the directors of all the important sports venues in Belgrade and surrounding towns. It was specially underlined that all the venues will have to be fitted according to standards of the International University Sports Federation.
