Member Association News: Canada Announces Shooting Team for Bangkok

Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced Tuesday July 24th the athletes that will represent Canada in the shooting competition at the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand (August 8-18). The Canadian team will be comprised of Karyn Garrett (Irricana, AB), Elizabeth Gustafson (Woking, AB), Lea Wacowhich (Redwater, AB) and Brian LaGroix (Ottawa, Ont.). La Groix, who serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Shooting Federation, will also act as both manager and coach of the Canadian Team. 2006 Bronze medalist in shooting and 2002 air pistol national champion, Lea Wacowhich will be a serious contender, having recently finished 14th in the 25 m sport pistol competition at the PanAm Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last July 15. The shooting events, which are making their very first appearance in the history of the Universiades, will take place from Friday, August 10 to Monday, August 13 at the Thailand Sports Authority sports complex.
