2008 WUC Field Hockey Cancelled

We regret to inform you that the Organising Committee of the 2008 World University Field Hockey Championship only received the confirmed participation of four men’s teams and two women’s teams up to now. Due to the deadline of August 30th, 2008, for the submission of quantitative entry forms for participating countries, and referring to the Art. 2.4. of the FISU Regulations for the WUC, stipulating that the number of entries for the team sports is less than six countries, the OC requested to cancel this event according to Art. 2.6. of the Regulations. On behalf of this OC and due to the financial implications that fall to them, FISU had to accept the request from the National Executive Committee of the University Sport South Africa (USSA) to cancel this first edition of this Championship with great regret for the participating countries. We are really sorry that this edition cannot be held and we hope that for 2010, we can count on your country for participating in the next edition which will take place in Edinburgh, GBR, from August 28th to September 4th, 2010.
