2008 WUC Handball: Update

The 19th edition of the World University Handball Championship will take place in Venice and Jesolo Beach, Italy from June 28th to July 6th, 2008. The Local Organising Committee foresees the participation of 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams. Therefore, the championship will be played according an eliminatory phase followed by a second round for the first two classified teams, the semi-finals and finals for all the placing. Important detail: the best four teams of the Women’s and Men’s competition will be automatically selected for the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia, where handball will be one of the optional sports.
