FISU Assessor Leonz Eder (l) and Roger Roth CTI Chair WU (r) present a FISU Souvenir to IIHF Secretary-General Hirst Lichtner (c)

Yesterday, February 19th, FISU representatives travelled to Zürich, Switzerland for a working meeting in the Headquarters of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). FISU was represented by: Leonz Eder, FISU Executive member and Vice-Chair of the Supervision Commission for the Winter Universiade; Roger Roth, FISU CTI Chair; Lars G.Karlsson, FISU CT Chair for Ice Hockey and Milan Augustin, Director of the Winter Universiade. Representing the IIHF were: Horst Lichtner, Secretary General; Hannes Ederer, Deputy Secretary-General and Event Director; Dave Fitzpatrick, Sport Director; Andy Ecker, Sport Administration Manager and Konstantin Komissarov, Officiating Manager.

The discussion between IIHF and FISU was very open and fruitful. The FISU and IIHF delegates discussed the recruitment of the referees and linesmen for the Winter Universiade, as well as the implementation of the new IIHF rules, not only for the upcoming Winter Universiade which will be held in Harbin (CHN) from February 18th to 28th, 2009 but also for the Winter Universiades which will be organized afterwards. The outcome of the discussion was very satisfying for both parties. The meeting at the IIHF HQ was also good opportunity for the FISU delegates to meet René Fasel, IIHF President and give him the best regards from FISU President George Killian and FISU Secretary-General Eric Saintrond.
