FISU Technical Chairman Awarded

Tapani Ilkka (FIN)
The President of the Finnish Republic, Tarja Halonen, has granted the honorary title of Professor to Mr. Tapani Ilkka, FISU Technical Chairman for Athletics. Mr. Ilkka was President of the Finnish Olympic Committee from 1989 to 2004 and Principal of the Sport Institute of Finland from 1976 to 2006. The previous honorary title of Professor in the sports sector was granted in 1948 to Lauri ‘Tahko’ Pihkala, who founded the Sport Institute of Finland.
