The OUSA Executive Board at their meeting in Sydney, Australia

Thanks to funds from the FISU Committee for the Development of University Sport, the Executive Committee of the Oceania University Sports Association met in Sydney, Australia on September 5, 2008. In their first meeting since the inaugural General Assembly, hosted by Australia University sport, members discussed an array of issues for the fledgling organisation. The focus of the meeting was on recruitment efforts of the region. Australia, Federated States of Micronesia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea are currently members of FISU. The hope of OUSA is to recruit additional OUSA and FISU members for the 2009 General Assembly in Belgrade. Additional agenda items included the adoption of a logo, the creation of a web site and the drafting of a 2 year strategic plan for the organisation. The proceedings were concluded with a home cooked meal hosted at his residence by Dr. Jeff Fitzgerald, the President of Australia University Sports. In attendance were Cliff Benson (Fiji), Ed Imo (Am. Samoa), Castro Joab (Federated States of Micronesia), Anne King (Ex-Officio), Don Knapp (Australia) and Karen Nelson (Samoa).
