2008 WUC Flat Water Canoeing: Update

General Technical Meeting
The Delegations Arrived The past few days, the participants for the 3rd World University Flat Water Canoeing Championship representing 23 countries from all over the globe have been arriving in Belgrade. Accommodation The teams are lodged in the new part of Belgrade, in the same students hostel where the athletes of the 2007 EYOD-Games stayed. The FISU CISCA delegates are accommodated in the Hotel Sumadija and the referees in the Hotel Serbia. Accreditation The Accreditation Centre is situated in the athletes’ accommodation. Member of the CIC committee Fernand Bottelberghs had lot of work during the first two days of accreditation, checking entry forms of some 250 participants from 23 countries. The accreditation centre is well organized. CISCA Meeting and 1st General Technical Meeting In the morning of September 18th, the members of the CISCA had the opportunity to meet the representatives of the Organizing Committee to discuss about the preparation of the World University Championship. CISCA Chair Mr. Gualtieri asked the Organizing Committee representatives about the preparations and also the FISU technical chair for flat water canoeing Zejlko Rajkovic (SRB) confirmed that the venue is in the excellent condition and the championship will be held in good conditions. After the CISCA meeting the general technical meeting took place at the Ada Ciganlija in the “Jezero Restaurant” meeting room. The Technical Committee meeting was held at 11.00 am. Mr. Alberto Gualtieri introduced all members of the board and he informed all the delegations about the preparation of the event. Zeljko Rajkovic, FISU Technical Chair for Flat Water Canoeing talked about all the technical points. During the meeting the Technical Committee was set up by the FISU CT for Flat Water Canoeing Championship. The Heads of Teams accepted the three experts proposed by the Chair. After the appointment of the TC, Mrs. Elly Muller gave information about the rules and schedules. Because Dr. Magalhaes was not present at the meeting the important information regarding medical assistance were presented by the CT Chair and the information regarding the doping control were presented by Michal Buchel, FISU secretariat representative. Doping control will be made during the Championship according the FISU Regulations and WADA Rules.
