2008 WUC Cross-Country: Update
September 19th, 2007
Under the credo ‘To Gather, To Train & To Perform’, the 16th edition of the World University Cross-Country Championship will take place in Mauquenchy, France from April 5th to 6th, 2008. The Organising Committee of the 2008 edition has published a comprehensive guide for the participating athletes. The guide clearly outlines the competition venue, which quite originally will be staged on the grounds of the Mauquenchy horse racetrack. The organisers wish to create a true village for the athletes, on a single and convivial site, establishing a real cohesion between all the delegations. The idea is to create a place of meeting and exchange between the athletes. This is why they chose the VVF of Forges-les Eaux. In the heart of the Norman country, between forest and lake, apple trees, manors, dovecotes and very close to the town centre and the casino. The athletes will be housed within a calm and green framework. Events will be held within the village in order to make this place convivial. The partners will be able to have stands and to take advantage of a direct relation with the athletes.
An event such as a World University Championship is not reduced to two races. Actually, it is the main moment for the athletes, the trainers and the officials that allows to exchange, to share points of view and experiences with the other passionate persons coming from various nations. That is why the organisers decided to facilitate these exchanges by organizing a conference, in association with the CETAPS of the University of Rouen (Research Centre of the Physical and Sport Activities Transformations). The conference will be held on Saturday, April 5th, 2008, from 14h00 to 18h00. It will take place in the hemicycle of the Région Haute-Normandie in Rouen. This conference addresses the heads of delegation and trainers of the World University Championship participating countries, the regional and national trainers, the doctors interested in Sport, the teachers, research professors and students.
