Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony took place in the Sports Hall, the same place where the competition is held. It was well prepared by the Organising Committee and started at 5.00 pm after the last combat semi-finals were finished. All athletes were seated in the spectator’s area but one from each country was nominated for the marching parade to represent his/her country. The program of the Opening Ceremony was coordinated by a speaker and the interpretation into English was done by Tamara Kostro, PR of the UB2009 Company. The teams were set up at both sides of the podium accompanied by the volunteers with the countries banners.
All participants were welcomed by the speaker and after the Serbian national anthem was played speeches followed. First by the President of the Organising Committee, Mr. Sinisa Jasnic, then by FISU EC delegate Mr. Marian Dymalski. The latter invited Mr. Slobodan Milosavljevic, Minister of Trade and Services to officially open the 10th World University Taekwondo Championship. The first part of the Ceremony finished with the University Choir singing the Gaudamus Igitur while the FISU flag was raised. After that the athlete’s oath was pronounced by a Serbian Athlete and the referee’s oath by a Serbian International referee.
The Cultural program, as usually was a presentation of national tradition. A folklore dancing group accompanied with a local music group. The attractive part of the programme was the “combat” presentation between the Serbian Taekwondo junior team and a local Break-Dance group.
