Visit of the Athletes' Village
Yesterday, October 16th, one day prior to the FISU Executive Committee meeting in Belgrade, Serbia, host city for the 2009 Summer Universiade, was a day of key committee meetings, such as the Development Committee, the Steering Committee and the Evaluation Committee for Bidding Cities.
In the afternoon the Organising Committee had planned a tour visit of the key competition venues for the 2009 Universiade, such as the Beograd Arena (20,000 seating capacity), the Stadium of Beograd Red Star (56,000 seating capacity) as well as multipurpose venues such as Expo21 and the Belgrade Fairgrounds.
The FISU delegates also visited the construction site of the Athletes’ Village which is well under way. The construction works are slightly ahead of schedule. At the moment some 2,500 construction workers are daily present on site to bring the works to a good end and on time.
