2007 Winter Universiade: Swiss Delegation Brings along Strong Contenders

January 12th, 2007

Daniela Meuli showing her Olympic gold

The Swiss delegation of 99 athletes and officials is preparing the journey to Torino within the next few days. 'Don’t dream your life, but live your dreams'. Daniela Meuli, Olympic gold medal winner at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, is one of the strongest athletes in the Swiss team. Even if she has recently „retired“ from her active competitive snowboarding, she will be part of the Swiss team and will try to complete her medal compilation with another gold medal from the Universiade. Last winter she was World Champion for the third consecutive time.

The Starlight Team

For the first time, the Starlight Team has got the opportunity to persent its very attractive and beautyful programme as syncronised skating features as a demonstrations sport for the first time at the Winter Universiade. The Starlight synchronized team has just won the Italian Championchip and is very much motivated to win another gold medal in Italy. Another strong athlete is nordic skier Toni Livers. He is in a very good shape at the moment and will be part of the relay team. They hope to be within the five best teams or even win a medal. Toni Livers has a number good finishes this year at international events including a 20th place at the World Cup in La Clusaz, France. The Swiss team is looking forward to being part of the 23nd Universiade in Torino!
