2009 WU: Working Session in Harbin, China

FISU delegates Pieter Tilstra, Roger Roth and Milan Augustin are paying a visit to Harbin, China, venue of the 2009 Winter Universiade from March 7th to 11th. The topics which are being discussed are the following: 1. The Sport Program for the 2009 WU after some remarks from technical delegates and finalize this program for the FISU Executive Committee meeting in May 2007. 2. Following visits of the International Delegates from the different disciplines so that the homologation of all the sport venues will be OK on time. 3. To fix the dates for test event in 2008. 4. General arrangements of the whole organization. 5. To discuss about some seminars for key persons to assist the OC for the organization of such a big event like the Universiade. The FISU delegates are accommodated in the Victories Hotel, in downtown Harbin, near the stadium which is foreseen for the Opening Ceremony of the games.
Yesterday, Mr. Pieter Tilstra had a meeting with the OC regarding the general arrangements and afterwards Mr. Roth and Mr. Augustin met with the OC members to discuss the competition program. Present at the meeting were: Han Guangru, Secretary-General Harbin WUOC, Qian Maozhong, Vice Secretary-General Harbin WUOC Zhao Yinggang, Vice Secretary-General Harbin WUOC Han Lei – Director Yabuli Ski resort Yin Saochen – Director International Liaison Department Dong Linmo – Sports department Li Dedong – Division Director Sport Department Zhu Zhiqiang – Vice-President Harbin Institute of Physical Education as well as officials of the General Affairs Office, Media & Publicity Department, Market Development Department, International Liaison Department and Sports Department. After very long discussions the FISU delegates were invited by Mr.Liu Xueliang, Vice-Governor of Heilongjiang Province and Vice-President of the OC. He gave us the guarantee that this team which is working for the 2009 Winter Universiade has a big support of the Province to be very successful. The next days, the delegates will travel to the Maoer Mountain resort.
