Q & A Session
The third day of the Heads of Delegation Meeting for the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand started with the traditional Question & Answer Session during which the delegations could air their concerns about certain topics of their stay. Hereafter you will find a summary.
Questions Concerning Accommodation
There are two kinds of bedroom: first category, a dormitory room (37 square metres), there will be one single bed and one double-deck bed, and two large wardrobes; second category is two-bed room suite, each bedroom containing two single beds and two large wardrobes. Two-bed-room suite will allow 4 athletes to share one bathroom and a living room. All rooms are air-conditioned. All pillows will be fibre-filled. Please see Chapter 8 and 9 of HOD Manual for detailed information. No athlete will share a bathroom with more than three others. Room assignment will be in compliance with FISU regulations. NUSF will be notified of assignments by July 8, 2007. All rooms will be cleaned daily and fresh bed linens and towels will be changed every 5 days. The Village will be officially opened on August 1st, 2007. No access will be available before that date. Self-service laundry facilities are available in every block free-of-charge. Extra officials will be accommodated outside the Village. Judges and referees will stay at Miracle Grand Convention Hotel and Amari Airport Hotel. Regular mosquito eradication procedures are followed with the focus on mosquito’s breeding areas. All alcoholic beverages and illicit drugs are strictly prohibited in the Village.
Questions Concerning Arrival and Departure
All Universiade participants will be met at the Suvarnabhumi Airport arrival gate and escorted through FISU fast track immigration and customs formality. Participants will be transported along with their assigned liaison to their assigned accommodation for accreditation. VIP delegates will be escorted to VIP lounge where immigration and customs formality will be arranged for them. For departure, participants will be assisted with check-in formalities and escorted through FISU fast track immigration. For VIP departure, delegates will be escorted to VIP lounge where check-in and immigration formalities will be handled on their behalf. Airport tax is automatically included in airfare.
Questions Concerning Accreditation
There will be three accreditation centres, at the Athletes’ Village, the Main Press Centre, and the Headquarters Hotel. Temporary cards will be issued quickly if all complete and correct information is supplied. Accreditation cards will be issued within 24 hours. By April 2007 UBOC will provide a web based application for each country to do data entry and attach photographs to individual entry forms on-line.
Questions Concerning Medical and Health
All doping control and other medical testing will be consistent with FISU regulations and WADA protocol. Full medical facilities are available on Thammasat University Campus and medical services will be available at all venues. A constant supply of drinking water and ice will be available at all sport venues and in the Village. An emergency response plan has been developed in cooperation with Security and Traffic Committee for rapid response, evacuation and protection of all participants in the case of unforeseen emergency situations.
Questions Concerning Sport and Venues
As a result of deliberation of the International Technical Committee the following changes have been made to the sport programme: • The maximum number of teams in women’s football will be increased to 16. • Softball competition will be expanded to two venues: Srinakharinwirot University and Thammasat University. • Competition schedules for a number of sports are in the process of being modified and will be made available by the end of April 2007.
