Try-Out WUC Mountain Bike Cross-Country Course Great Success

The organizing committee of the 2008 World University Cycling Championship welcomed the local mountain bikers on Sunday March 2nd for a try-out of their mountain bike cross-country course. After a stormy Saturday the forests around Nijmegen and Groesbeek were full of branches and some fallen trees. Nevertheless, some 40 mountain bikers took part in this try-out of the concept course. Split in two groups they followed the technical course with a lot of single-tracks, fast descents and steep slopes. The concept course might be changed a little bit, also on behalf of the hints of national mountain bike coach Leo van Zeeland, who also took part in the try-out. Popular obstacles as the ‘Koekleklef’ and ‘Wortelenpad’ will stay in it, just like it was in the Europe Cup course in 2003. The Organizing Committee is keen with the feedback on the course and guarantees that it will be a tough and technical course when the WUC will be held on Thursday May 22nd, 2008.
