Happy Birthday Mr. President!
Yesterday night FISU President Killian got a surprise brithday cake at the dinner hosted by the University Sports Board of Thailand (USBT) and the Governor of Bangkok. A clearly moved Killian very much appreciated the gesture of the Bangkok OC.

Technical Meeting
Concurrent with the visits, the Technical Chairmen and women met in the Dusit Thani Hotel to present their progress reports of the technical aspects of their sports. This meeting gives their Thai counterparts in the Organising Committee the opportunity to enhance those venues that are not on schedule yet. As the majority of the venues that will be used for the 2007 Universiade were the venues built for the 1998 Asian Games, most of the improvements to be made are minor. A general remark by most of the Technical Chairpersons was the insufficient number of lightning for modern TV standards in most of the venues. In some venues this number only ran up to 400 lux, whereas the current standard needs to be 1,500. This was the case especially for volleyball. As the pooling for the softball was made recently, it was decided to use a second venue for this discipline. ‘There is still a great deal to do’, Technical Chairperson for Softbal Karen Sykes said. ‘Work in the second venue will start next week. Two practice fields need to be established as well as pitching warm-up areas. The works need to be monitored closely so the deadline can be made.'
