FISU President Receives another Honoris Causa

At the occasion of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Slovenian University Sports Association, FISU President George E. Killian received on January 5th, the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Maribor. For the delegates of FISU, of the European University Students Association (EUSA) and the representatives of National University Sports Federations present, the day started by meeting Mr. Franc Kangler, Mayor of Maribor at the city hall. Afterwards, the participants joined the University where they were welcomed by the Rector, Mr. Ivan Rozman, who led the academic ceremony in Honour of the FISU President. At the ceremony were also present all university rectors of the country and Mr. Bogdan Gabrovec, Vice-President of the Slovenian Olympic Committee. During the ceremony, Mr. Otmar Kugovnik , SUSA President and Mr. Alberto Gualtieri in his capacity of EUSA President took the floor to deliver the solemn bestowal of Honorary Doctorate. The ceremony was followed by the presentation of SUSA activities since its foundation in 1997 and by a prize giving ceremony to the persons that contributed to its development. SUSA President Otman Kugovnik and SUSA and EUSA Secretary-General Matjaz Pecovnik were the two persons to take the floor during this celebration.
