2008 WUC Archery: Update

June 5th, 2008

While the 2008 World University Archery Championship is less than two months away, Chinese Taipei is putting some final touches on its preparation work for this major university sports event. The official website of the Championship has been re-vamped and re-launched recently. Also, a staff meeting was held in early April by the OC to go over the details of the event operation and administrative work. Meanwhile, as many countries have already shown an interest to take part in this Championship, Chinese Taipei is expecting and ready for a nice turn-out from all over the world this summer. The official website of the 2008 World University Archery Championship now has a new look after having gone through a series of fact-lifts. All of the information essential to the Championship can be obtained from this website, ranging from facilities and accommodation to transportation and local information. The competition information will be running and kept up-to-date once each event starts. More details will be added into the website as necessary. Anyone from all the participating countries should check out the website and take a fun tour. For those who are interested in this event, the visit to this website is a must. FISU has approved the medal design submitted by Chinese Taipei for the Championship already. Meanwhile, there have been 27 countries which have expressed an intention to participate in the 2008 World University Archery Championship up to this point. “It’s a team work from top to bottom, from the start to the end, to say the least,” emphasized Dr. Shiang-Ming Wei, Secretary General of Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation. “We have a great variety of capable individuals with different backgrounds working with us,” Dr. Wei said. “Our team has been a cohesive unit. We wanted to work closely to make the Championship a successful one for both FISU and us. And we are getting there, slowly but surely.” Dr. Wei spoke of the Championship with a smile. The Opening Ceremony, which will be organized by Tainan County Government, is for now scheduled to take place at 5 PM on July 6th. One of the highlights will be a folk show arranged by the County Government to exhibit local culture and heritage on Tainan. Also, a welcome party has been planned out by OC right after the opening ceremony. It is going to be a fun evening for every participant of the Championship before the competition heats on over the next four days in the summer of Chinese Taipei.
