Member Association News: CAN Announces Staff for 2008 WUC Baseball

Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced the 2008 Team Canada Mission Staff that will be heading to the Czech Republic to represent the CIS in the 4th World University Baseball Championship tournament. Canada will be led by the University of British Columbia’s Head Coach Terry McKaig. McKaig will be assisted by his two UBC Assistant Coaches Cavanagh Whitely and Shawn Corness. Also named to the Coaching Staff is Wilfrid Laurier University’s (OUA) Head Coach Scott Ballantyne. Carleton University’s David Kent, Manager of Athletics Marketing & Communications, will round out the Mission Staff as the team’s Communications Manager. The WUC will take place from July 17th to July 27th, 2008, in three Czech Republic cities, Prague, Brno and Ostrava. Canada will participate against seven other countries for the 4th Annual International University Baseball crown. Canada participated in the 2002 WUC in Sicily, Italy finishing 9th and the 2004 WUC in Chinese Taipei, finishing 10th. The CIS did not send a team to the 2006 WUC in Cuba.
