2007 SU Heads of Delegation Meeting: Accreditations
April 4th, 2007
From April 5th to 7th, the Heads of Delegation Meeting for the 2007 Bangkok Universiade is taking place in the host city. Today, April 4th, the delegations are arriving in Bangkok and accreditation is taking place in the Dusat Thani Hotel, the FISU Family Hotel for the Games. The Heads of Delegation meeting is one of the most important events of the hosting country prior to the Games, because it’s the only opportunity for the OC to present the latest developments of the Universiade preparations to the participants. The UBOC considers this meeting as a ‘grand rehearsal’ for all committees and concerning parties. Staff and volunteers are assigned to work as if the Universiade was in progress. Actual protocols and procedures such as immigration, reception, accreditation and security services will be applied. This is to ensure that each UBOC mechanism will work effectively and impeccably during the Universiade.
During this meeting, the Heads of Delegation will have the opportunities to inspect the Athletes’ Village, competition and training venues, as well as other facilities, such as the Accreditation Centre, the Main Press Centre etc. During the three-day session, a number of meetings are scheduled as well: the meeting between UBOC 2007 and Belgrade 2009 OC, the next Summer Universiade hosts, the Supervision Commission meeting, the Technical Commission meeting and the Medical Commission meeting. Last, but not least, on April 7th, the draw for the team sports will be held, which will be announced officially via a press conference at the Dusat Thani Hotel following the draw.
