Weiya Railway Project
The Yabuli Ski Resort lies some 200 km from Harbin and the train ride, the so-called ‘Weiya Railway Project’ takes about 2h00. With the joint investment from the State Ministry of Railways and the Government of Heilongjiang Province, Weiya railway, a 24.24 km B-level single-track railway, starts from Weihe Railway Station and ends at Yabuli South Railway Station. The internal-combustion traction will be adopted for operating this railway and the designed operation speed is 120 km/hour. The project was started in April 2007 and officially opened to traffic on December 6th, 2007. Through this railway, it only takes two hours to go from Harbin to Yabuli Ski Resort, and therefore provides favorable conditions for hosting the Winter Universiade and developing ice and snow tourism in Heilongjiang Province. The direct passenger train routes connecting Harbin and Yabuli South Railway Station have already been put to use.
Yabuli Sub-IBC Project
The FISU delegates visited the Sub-IBC Center and all ski venues. Located in Yabuli Ski Resort, the Sub-IBC project covers an area of 31,700 square meters and has a total construction area of 15,313.43 square meters. In Yabuli Sub-IBC, there are 109 guest rooms, 6 small and medium sized meeting rooms, a 400 sqm studio and meeting room. Its grand dining hall can host 200 people at the same time, and the small and medium sized functional rooms can meet various dining demands. The IBC adopts High-Definition TV technology to broadcast the 24th Winter Universiade. There are one main IBC and five ice sports live broadcasting systems located in Harbin, one Sub-IBC and five snow sports live broadcasting systems located in Yabuli Ski Resort, two snow sports live broadcasting and recording systems located in Maoer Mountain Ski Resort, and other corresponding broadcasting and recording systems, all of which will be able to provide high-definition digital signals for the media from different countries and regions. The project was started in April 2007, reached heating closure at the end of November 2007 and will be completed on August 31st, 2008.
Competition Command Center Project
Mr. Killian also visited the Competition Command Center. As the hub of administration and management during the event, this project is one of the key construction projects for the Winter Universiade. It covers a land of 10,240 square meters with 10,000 square meters construction area. The main body is made of ferroconcrete and the partial framework is made of steel. The 5-floor building includes the Competition Command Center, a Competition Equipment Service Center, a doping control center, a first aids center, lounges, meeting rooms, dining rooms, and other functional rooms such as guest rooms. It can accommodate 142 people and host 300 people for dining. Started on April 1st, 2007, the project has been completed and put to use on November 30th, 2007.
