2008 WUC Futsal: Day 6

Portugal have won the 11th World University Futsal Championship, defeating Ukraine 5-1 in the final. Portugal played a perfect first half of futsal, thanks to Orlando Duarte's tactics to keep out the Ukrainians. This is Portugal's first victory in the FISU WUC Futsal, and coach Duarte will hope it is an omen for things to come in Brazil. Portugal weren't fancied at the quarter final stage or the final, as many believed Brazil and Ukraine to be the strongest teams in Koper. They overcame two of the superpowers of World Futsal to claim the historic victory. Portugal also were awarded with the best player and best goalkeeper to claim a hat trick of awards at the medal ceremony. Brazil's Keke won the top goalscorer award and Great Britain won the fair play award.
