RIO DE JANEIRO - FISU is about to inaugurate and explore a new frontier in its existence. The FISU Web Games, to be launched in May/June 2011, will bring online competitions among university students to its already strong portfolio of events.
It has been years since the FISU members were first presented to the very initial ideas of what could be the FISU Web Games. Now, with unprecedented conditions offered by the Internet Technology segment, the FISU Web Games is going through final developments and operational tests in order to implement its first online competition.
The 17.8 million Latin American university students, from around nine thousand universities and 41 countries, will have the opportunity to take part in history, joining the first FISU Web Games competition: the Latin American University Song Contest.
Besides the talent contest, the 2011 Calendar of the FISU Web Games will count on two competitions based on games and knowledge, all of them distributing significant prizes and willing to achieve the most important goals of this new FISU initiative: to promote knowledge, culture and unity among students and generate resources for the national federations affiliated to FISU.
The FISU Web Games will be launched with the support from a group of at least 5 TV networks in Latin America, initially.
