The 1st World University Bridge Championship took place in 2002 in Bruges, Belgium, and welcomed 65 players from 13 countries.
Since then, four other editions took place on two continents, attracting around 100 participants per edition. The 6th World University Bridge Championship took place in Reims (FRA) in 2012.
The bridge competitions will be organised in accordance with the most recent technical rules of the World Bridge Federation (WBF) unless otherwise stated. In case of disagreement in the interpretation of these rules, the English text will be regarded as authoritative. The programme and duration of the competitions are fixed by the Executive Committee in agreement with the Organising Committee and the CTI. The competitions will last seven (7) days.
For each tournament, each country is authorised to present two (2) teams of four (4) to six (6) players for a maximum of seventeen (17) persons composed of a maximum of twelve (12) competitors and five (5) officials.
The event will be disputed by teams of four (4) players and each team will meet each other.
The Organising Committee must provide, for exclusive use, an indoor sports hall with full support facilities as approved by the bridge CT. The WBF regulations must be followed.

TOJR* Technical officials, Judges and Referees
The audience hall must be equipped with a screen or TV screen to follow the contests. The interface link between the competition hall and the audience hall must be provided.
