The FISU Forum: A Place to Meet

Every two years, the Forum is an opportunity for the students and officials from the university sports movement of the FISU member associations to meet each other. The main objective of the Forum is to offer the conditions for a meeting and exchange, associating culture and education with physical and sporting activities. By establishing this Forum more than ten years ago the FISU authorities wanted students, teaching staff and sports leaders from different backgrounds to get to know and understand each other in order for both parties to be enriched by all the different aspects of their diversity.

The FISU Seminar

In 2002, the Secretariat-General of FISU started to organise in Belgium a two-day seminar on how FISU operates. The seminar gives the new Committee members and the organizers of FISU events the opportunity to meet. The organisation of the seminar represents also the occasion to welcome the annual meeting of the FISU Committees (International Control Committee, Medical Committee, Sport Regulations Committee ...). The variety of the participants gives them the possibility to fully understand the FISU environment and to achieve a better co-operation in their activities within FISU. The fist edition was held on April 19th and 20th 2002 in Ostend. The second edition was held on April 2nd and 3rd, 2004 in Ostend. The agenda of the seminar includes the following issues: - History of FISU and current structure - Relations between the Secretariat and the members of the FISU Family - CISCA management (International Supervision, Control and Arbitration Committee) - Mission of the Technical Committee (CTI) - Accreditation process during the events - Role of the Medical Committee (CM) - Department of Communication - FISU protocol - Relations with the International Sports Federations. The third edition was hosted in the FISU HQ in 2008.
