The final Press Conference with from left to right: Muhtar Kurt, Kemal Tamer, Bekir Korkmaz, Kairis Ulp, Eric Saintrond and Robert Philip
"On behalf of the Winter Universiade Supervision Committee of FISU, it is my pleasure to welcome you on the 2nd meeting of the Organizing Committee and Head of Delegations for the 25th Winter Universiade!
During these 2 days we had the possibility to visit the Athletes Village and sports venues in Erzurum, Palandöken, Konakli and Kandilli and listen to the professionally prepared presentations of the departments involved. I hope that these days were useful and informative both to the Heads of Delegations, as well as to the members of the Organising Committee.
I would like to congratulate Mr. Bekir Korkmaz and the Organizing Committee for the well prepared and conducted program! Thank you for the hospitality that we have enjoyed here in Erzurum, Turkey, during the advanced visit of the Heads of Delegations!
Now it is the time to make conclusions about the advanced visit.
Once again I would like to stress that all of us - the Organizing Committee, FISU and Heads of Delegations - have one and the same goal – to make the 25th Winter Universiade successful!
Thank you!"
These were the words of Mrs Kairis Ulp, CSU Chair, when she opened, this last and third day of the HoDs meeting in Erzurum. Indeed it was already the time to go home but first, the HoDs were invited to hear Mr Bekir Korkmaz, the General Coordinator of the 2011 Winter Universiade answering the written questions asked after the inspections. The HoDs were very satisfied with the OC answers and after a brief speech from Mr Korkmaz they could continue the meeting with the team draw.
There was only a draw for the men's ice hockey as we had 12 teams registered for this tournament. For the other events: women's ice hockey, curling, synchronized skating it was only a selection based on the previous results of these teams.
You can find the result of this draw and selection here after.
The day ended with a final press conference broadcasted live on TRT. During this press conference, Mr Eric Saintrond, FISU General-Secretary/CEO had the opportunity to underline the fact that thanks to the Universiade, the city of Erzurum will now benefit from high standard winter sport venues and will be able to host almost all the disciplines that are on the Winter Olympic Program.
